Aqara has released their latest smart lock: the Aqara U200 Lite. With the Lite version of the already available Aqara U200 Smart Lock, it offers a very affordable option for anyone who doesn’t need a keypad. With a price of €127,99, it’s significantly more affordable compared to the regular Aqara U200 priced at €279,99. Expect for the keypad, all other features are very similar to the U200. It works with Matter over Thread and is a retrofit solution for European style door locks.
Features Aqara U200 Lite Smart Lock
The Aqara U200 Lite works with Matter over Thread. This means you can connect the lock directly to a hub from Google or Apple, like the Google TV Streamer, Nest Hub 2, Apple TV or Apple HomePod mini. If you like to stay within the Aqara ecosystem, you can opt for the Aqara M3 hub or the Aqara hub M100, as both support Thread. Like the Aqara U200, it has all the same features such as auto-lock, pull spring support and quit mode. The 2.000 mAh rechargeable battery lasts up to 6 months on a single charge.
Where the U200 comes with a keypad to unlock the door with a pincode, fingerprint, NFC card or Apple Home Key, the U200 Lite lacks a keypad and comes with two NFC Sticker Cards. You can connect these cards to an action, like lock or unlock, after which you tap your phone to execute this action. Other options to open your door are either with an app or voice assistant. It’s currently not clear if you can upgrade the lock with a separate keypad.
Affordable lock without keypad
With the Aqara U200 Lite, Aqara offers a second option in Europe next to the regular U200. With a €150 price difference, the U200 Lite significantly cheaper compared to the U200. As a trade-off, you are not able to unlock your door with a keypad, using a pincode, fingerprint or Apple Home Key. As an alternative, you can use the included NFC Sticker Cards to unlock your door with your phone. Priced at €127,99, it’s one of the most affordable locks currently on the market.
