The Aqara Wall Outlet H2 EU, announced in 2023 at the IFA in Berlin, is launched by Aqara. This Wall Outlet H2 is intended for Europe and is based on Zigbee. It replaces your current power outlet, making it smart and allowing you to control the connected device remotely. The built-in energy meter makes this power outlet even smarter as you can use this in your automations. Matter is supported through one of Aqara’s Zigbee hubs. It’s available from May 23rd on Amazon and other selected retailers.
Smart energy meter
The Aqara Wall Outlet H2 is an alternative to the Aqara Smart Plug. Whereas the Smart Plug is used in combination with an existing power outlet, the Wall Outlet H2 replaces the current power outlet. This makes the Smart Plug more flexible in use, but the Wall Outlet H2 looks a lot nicer, as you don’t need an extra smart plug between your power outlet and the device plug.
Aqara’s power outlet is based on Zigbee 3.0, unlike like some other new products from Aqara which are based on Thread. Matter is supported via an Aqara hub. The Aqara Wall Outlet H2 fits into a standard 55 mm frame, contains an adjustable LED indicator and has a built-in energy meter. This energy meter measures the consumption of your connected device, which is visible in the Aqara Home app. Perhaps more interesting is the ability to add automations based on the amount of power your device requests. This allows you to control your Smart Home, for example, as soon as you put your smartphone on charge or when the washing machine is finished.
The Aqara Wall Outlet H2 can also be controlled via a button on the device itself, as such you’re not tied to voice control or an app. There is built-in protection to prevent overheating. Additionally, Charging Protection ensures that power delivery stops as soon as the battery of e.g. your smartphone is full.
Previously announced
During the IFA in 2023, Aqara announced five products, namely the Aqara Camera E1, Aqara U200 Smart Lock, Aqara Ceiling Light T1M, Aqara Dual Relay Module T2, and this Aqara Wall Outlet H2. As the Wall Outlet H2 is now available, we are only waiting for the official sale of the Aqara U200. This is expected to happen in Q3 or Q4 this year. Earlier, Aqara offered the U200 through Kickstarter, with delivery expected in May or June.
Availability and price
The Aqara Wall Outlet H2 is available from May 23rd in most European countries for €39.99 on Amazon and other selected retailers. An Aqara Zigbee hub is required to connect the Wall Outlet H2 to your Smart Home. Aqara offers various options for this, such as the Aqara Hub M3, Aqara Hub M2, Aqara Hub E1 or the Aqara Camera Hub G3.
