Today, Ecovacs received the Matter certification from the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) of the Ecovacs T50 Pro Omni. The robot vacuum is Matter 1.4 certified, which means users are also able to select the rooms they want to clean using Matter. Apple HomeKit will support Matter robot vacuums in April, when iOS 18.4 will be released. Beta users are already able to use this functionality, however currently only the SwitchBot S10 is actually able to connect over Matter. Other robot vacuums still await firmware update from manufacturers to enable to Matter functionality.
Features Ecovacs T50 Pro Omni
The Ecovacs Deebot T50 Pro Omni has a height of 8.1 cm, a suction power of 15.000 Pa and a 10-in-1 base station for washing and drying the mops, refilling of water and emptying the dustbin. With an extendable side brush and mop, it’s able to reach corners and edges. With its AIVI 3.0 obstacle avoidance, the robot vacuum from Ecovacs can detect and avoid toys, cables, socks and more with a precision of 1 mm. It also features an AI voice assistant, called YIKO-GPT. With a Large Language Model (LLM), it’s able to understand commands in natural language and act accordingly.
The Matter 1.4 support of the T50 Pro Omni enables control of the robot vacuum using Smart Home platforms like Apple HomeKit and Home Assistant. Matter version 1.2 is the first to support the category robot vacuums, with the option to start or stop a cleaning session, return the vacuum to the dock and set cleaning modes. Version 1.4 adds support of room control, allowing users to select the room(s) to clean. While the Ecovacs T50 Pro Omni is now verified, Ecovacs will still need to provide a firmware update to users to enable this feature. It’s currently unclear when this update can be expected.
