SwitchBot released several new products this year, such as the Wallet Finder Card, Air Purifiers and the K10+ Pro Robot Vacuum. There are also two new meters in the product range, the SwitchBot Meter Pro and SwitchBot Meter Pro (CO2 Monitor). Both meters are able the measure temperature and humidity, but also have the capability to show outside measurements, either based on internet sources or by using an outdoor meter from SwitchBot.
Features
The main difference between the two different models is the CO2 monitor. If you don’t really care about this, you can opt for the more affordable regular version, while the CO2 monitor version allows you to monitor CO2 levels. Bot versions can show the time, date, temperature, humidity, comfort level and whether forecast. For that last feature, you will need a SwitchBot Hub, as this information is pulled from the internet. Swiss Sensirion sensors are used to measure temperature and humidity every 2 seconds, with an accuracy of ±0.2°C and ±2%RH.
If you also want to monitor outdoor temperature and humidity, you can either choose to base this on your location and pull data from the internet via the SwitchBot app, or connect a SwitchBot Outdoor Meter to provide these measurements yourself.
The CO2 monitor version of the SwitchBot Meter Pro can update CO2 levels every second, but will do so every 30 minutes in battery mode and every minute in charge mode. The accuracy of measurements is ±50ppm within a range of 400-9000ppm. Sound alerts or visual alerts are available if CO2 levels rise above a certain threshold. You can also automate e.g. the SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier based on humidity levels measured by the Meter Pro.
The Meter Pro has a 12 month battery live with two AA batteries. This is also the case for the CO2 monitor version, however here you also have the option to connect a USB-C cable for power. The regular Meter Pro can store up to 68 days of data on local store, while the CO2 monitor can handle 40 days of data.
Temperature and Humidity levels are also exposed to Matter using either the SwitchBot Hub 2 or the SwitchBot Hub Mini Matter Enabled.
Use in the SwitchBot app
Adding the Meter Pro to the SwitchBot app is quite easy, as it is for all SwitchBot devices. Usually devies are detected automatically over bluetooth and with a few clicks, you’re up and running. In the app, you can see the current temperature, humidity, but also some other measures like absolute humidity, dew point and vapor-pressure deficit. It also shows graphs of the temperature, humidity and CO2 levels over time. You’re able to select different time ranges. You’re also able to export data to your phone.
Within the app, you’re also able to choose the way data is displayed on the device. There are settings for the date format, you’re able to choose another meter as data source for the humidity and temperature, set the data update interval and choose whether the larger part of the screen shows the inside or outside data. The other data is shown smaller at the top of the device.
If you’re using the SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier, you can connect the Meter Pro to base the behavior of the humidifier on the measurements of the Meter Pro.
