SwitchBot launches Lock Ultra, Keypad Vision and Hub 3

Today, SwitchBot Launches several new products. They’ve updated their hub with the SwitchBot hub 3, which has improved Matter support and more buttons to control your devices. The SwitchBot Lock also got an upgrade with the Lock Ultra, which has a new design and is smaller and faster than the Lock Pro. Together with the Lock Ultra, SwitchBot also introduces the Keypad Vision. The SwitchBot Keypad Vision features facial recognition to open your SwitchBot Locks. All products are now available to purchase on Amazon and the official SwitchBot website.

SwitchBot Lock Ultra

The SwitchBot Lock Ultra is the latest Smart Lock from SwitchBot. It still works over Bluetooth, either directly connected to your smartphone or in combination with a SwitchBot Hub. While the SwitchBot Lock Pro was rectangular, the Ultra is more round-shaped and 50% thinner than the Lock Pro. It’s available both in Black and Silver, with three different wooden pads to match your door style. It’s more than 100% faster than the previous generation and also more quiet, with noises as low as 20dB. The rechargeable main battery can last about 9 to 12 months on a single charge, while a CR123A back-up battery can handle 500-1000 emergency unlocks. You’re also able to use micro-electrolytic unlocking in case of emergency.

The SwitchBot Lock Ultra supports Matter via a SwitchBot Hub. With Matter, it’s able to connect to all major Smart Home platforms like Apple HomeKit and Google Home. It’s also compatible with Home Assistant via Bluetooth or Matter. There are several combinations available. On Amazon, only two combinations are available, the separate product and other combinations can be purchased on the SwitchBot official website. SwitchBot Keypad Vision

The SwitchBot Keypad Vision is a Keypad, Fingerprint reader, NFC reader and Facial Recognition device. With 3D facial recognition, it’s able to recognize registered faces within 1 second. It uses 850nm infrared light for recognition in dark environments and over 30.000 infrared light points to generate a facial map detailed on millimeter level. Its false recognition rate is less than 0.0001%. It will not unlock your door when photo’s or videos are shown in front of the device. Data is stored locally, you can store up to 100 faces. Next to facial recognition, you can use it to open your SwitchBot Lock with a fingerprint, NFC card or pincode. Its has a build-in 5000 mAh battery which should be enough for 12 months.

The SwitchBot Keypad Vision is available in several combination on the SwitchBot official website and Amazon. Currently, only the combo with the Lock Ultra and Hub Mini Matter Enabled is available on Amazon, the separate product and other combinations are available on the SwitchBot official website. SwitchBot Hub 3

The SwitchBot Hub 3 is the successor of the Hub 2. It’s completely redesigned and has several new features. It’s still able to connect your SwitchBot devices over bluetooth to your Smart Home and allows you to control these remotely. However, it also features several physical buttons and a rotary dial. This can be used to control your SwitchBot devices, which you can add within the SwitchBot app. Like the SwitchBot Universal Remote, you can also control devices like the Google Chromecast or Apple TV.

A significant upgrade is the number of devices you can expose to Matter with the Hub 3. While this was limited to 4 with the Hub Mini Matter Enabled and 8 with the Hub 2, the Hub 3 can expose up to 30 devices to Matter. New in the Matter support is the possibility to create virtual buttons to Matter, which you can control on the hub 3 using the buttons. These buttons can be programmed within your Smart Home platform like Apple HomeKit or Home Assistant. This allows users to control non-SwitchBot devices with the Hub 3. This happens directly on the device, you’re not able to control the buttons within the SwitchBot app.

The SwitchBot Hub 3 has an updated screen, which shows the temperature and humidity measured by the build-in sensors. It can show the weather, but the screen is also used to navigate to the devices you have connected to the hub.
