Next to the new (household) robot vacuums of SwitchBot, they also announced a new lock, the SwitchBot Lock Ultra and the SwitchBot Video Doorbell. The Video Doorbell was already shown at the IFA in Berlin last year, but was not yet officially announced. The Video Doorbell of SwitchBot has a separate screen for answering calls. The Lock Ultra is a retrofit smart lock, can be unlocked in 16 different ways and has a different form factor compared to the SwitchBot Lock Pro.
SwitchBot Lock Ultra
The SwitchBot Lock Ultra should be able to fit 99.9% of existing locks, including deadbolt, mortise and Jimmy Proof locks. It has a fast unlocking speeds with the FasUnlock System and can be opened with fingerprint, NFC cards, the SwitchBot app, voice assistants and more. It has a triple-power system to eliminate the risk of being locked out. The battery should last around 9 months, a larger battery will be available for 12 months of battery power. With a SwitchBot Hub, you’re able to connect the lock to your favorite Smart Home platform over Matter, such as Apple HomeKit.
SwitchBot Video Doorbell
A fully new product category for SwitchBot is entered with the SwitchBot Video Doorbell. It features a 4.3 inch portable display. This display shows the video feed of the doorbell and offers 2-way audio. The doorbell has a 20-month battery life and is connected to the monitor. The monitor offers local storage up to 512 GB, probably with the use of a SD card.
The Video Doorbell display has a 100dB chime build-in. It also serves as a gateway for SwitchBot Lock products. The Video Doorbell has a 2K ultra-HD resolution, color night vision and a 165 degree wide-angle view. It offers integration with Alexa. It can be installed with either an adhesive or screws. The display can be either mounted on a wall or placed on a table and requires a regular power outlet.
