The SwitchBot Roller Shade, announced at IFA in Berlin in September 2024, is now available. It was previously available as pre-order, but since this week, the Roller Shade from SwitchBot is in stock at the SwitchBot official website. A key feature of the SwitchBot Roller Shade is the option to cut the shade yourself, which means you don’t have to have exact measurements when ordering. Matter support is available through a Matter-Enabled hub from SwitchBot. There are various options available for different sizes (S, M, L and XL). A launch discount of about 40% is currently offered by SwitchBot. This brings the price down to €140,79/$119,99/£119,99 for the Small sized shades and €227,79/$198,40/£199,99 for the XL version. The SwitchBot Roller Shade is available in 4 sizes, which allows you to cut the shades to the size you need at home. You can find the measurements of all options below. All versions offer a length of 220 cm/86.6″.

In order to cut the shades to the exact size you need, you can follow the instructions offered by SwitchBot. A tool is included to cut the fabric. The shades offer 100% blackout, UV protection, insulation and privacy protection. The noise output is about 30-35 dB when operating your shades. You can control the shades by using the SwitchBot app, apps like Google Home or Apple Home and the physical controller attached to the roller shades. You can also use Google Assistant or Siri to operate the device. A SwitchBot remote is also available separately, which you can assign to one or more shades.
The SwitchBot Roller Shade is powered by a 2600 mAh battery, which you can either charge over USB-C or by a SwitchBot solar panel, which is sold separately. A single charge should last around 8 months, depending on your usage. Currently, you can opt for a white or grey fabric.
Matter support
Matter support is not build-in to the device, but offered via a SwitchBot Hub. The shades are connected to the hub over Bluetooth, after which you can add these to Matter. The SwitchBot Hub 2 can bridge 8 devices into Matter, while the SwitchBot Hub Mini Matter enabled can enable Matter for 4 devices. However, if you usually control several shades at the same time, you can also group them together and expose them to Matter as one device. Control in a third-party app will control all curtains in this group at the same time.
Like the SwitchBot app, you can control the shade by setting the percentage it needs to open or close, or directly close or open the curtain fully. During installation, you will need to first calibrate the device. This will set the length of the shade needed for your window.

The SwitchBot Roller Shade is currently exclusively available on the official SwitchBot website. Official prices range from €219,99/$199,99/£169,99 up to €339,99/$309,99/£269,99, depending on the size needed. A discount is currently available of around 40% on all versions.
