SwitchBot S10 gains room control with Matter 1.4 certification

SwitchBot S10

The SwitchBot S10 Robot Vacuum was the first to support Matter when Apple added Robot Vacuums to Apple HomeKit in iOS 18.4. The S10 was Matter 1.2 certified, which means you are able to control the vacuum with a Matter supported Smart Home platform. However, you are not able to select the rooms to clean, as this functionality was introduced in the Matter 1.4 specification. On August 20th, the SwitchBot S10 has been certified for Matter 1.4 by the Connectivity Standard Alliance (CSA). This means the SwitchBot S10 is officially ready to support room control in Apple HomeKit. This will require a software update from SwitchBot, which is not yet available at this moment.

SwitchBot Robot Vacuums with Matter

The SwitchBot S10 is one of the first robot vacuums from SwitchBot. It features 6.000Pa Suction power, a rolling mop, base station and a separate water station which you can connect to your main water supply. While originally priced at €1099,99/$1199, it’s now available for about €499,99/$499,99. The main reason for this price drop is the newly introduced successor of the S10, the SwitchBot S20, which is available from €679,99/$679,99. The S20, which will also support Matter 1.4 with a software update, has improved suction power, but is otherwise very similar to the S10. New is the option to choose either a base station with storage for clean and dirty water or a version with an auto-fill and drain system.

The new SwitchBot S20 has two different base station models.

Next to the SwitchBot S10 and S20, there are also several other smaller robot vacuums available at SwitchBot with Matter. The SwitchBot K10+ Pro Combo, K20+ Pro and the just launched SwitchBot K11+ all support Matter 1.4. Some of these models still need to be updated by SwitchBot to actually add the Matter 1.4 update for users to gain room control in Apple HomeKit. The K11+ supports Matter 1.4 out of box. You can find an overview of all robot vacuums of SwitchBot on their official website. We’ve also listed all robot vacuums with Matter support in a previous article.
