Tado launched their next generation of smart thermostats, the Tado Thermostat X. The main improvements are the support of Matter and Thread, allowing users to connect the Tado Thermostat to their favourite Smart Home platform. This also opens up the possibility to run the thermostat locally, without the need to rely on an internet connection or servers from Tado. Their Radiator Thermostat and Heatpump Connector are also renewed with the Tado Smart Radiator X and Heatpump Optimzier X. The new Tado Bridge X is a Thread Border Router and even supports third-party devices for controlling your Smart Home. The new generations products from Tado are not compatible with previous generations.
Matter and Thread support
The main update for Smart Home users is the Matter and Thread support of the Tado Thermostat X. This allows users to connect the thermostat to all main Smart Home platforms, such as Google Home and Apple HomeKit. It will probably also allow to control the Tado Thermostat X with the recently released Aqara Hub M3.
The support of Thread also enables users to locally manage your thermostat. This means you don’t need to rely on a working internet connection or the servers of Tado. With brands going bankrupt or discontinuing the support for smart devices, some products became useless. The Thread support avoids these issues with a local connection. If you’re using Thread to connect the Tado Thermostat X, you won’t need the new Tado Bridge X, although it can be used as an extender of your Thread network.
The outside of the Tado Thermostat X is also renewed. The new thermostat has a modern look, is black and white coloured and has a renewed display which is capable to show more information.

Tado Radiator Thermostat X
The Radiator Thermostat X is the renewed Radiator Thermostat from Tado. The updated design shows a display on top of the radiator thermostat with the current and set temperature. This display can be rotated 90 degrees. The Radiator Thermostat X is also based on thread and is not compatible with previous generations of the Tado Thermostat, such as the V3+. While that version was based on replaceable batteries, the new Tado Radiator Thermostat X can be charged using USB-C and should be able to last the whole heating season.

Tado Heatpump Optimzer X
Tado also released the Tado Heatpump Optimizer. This device optimises the usage of your heat pump by using intelligent software. It contains its own Thread Border Router, which means a bridge is not required for the Optimzer X. You can even connect other Matter over Thread compatible devices for complete control of your Smart Home.
Tado Bridge X
The Tado Bridge X is a Matter based hub with a Thread Border Router, allowing remote control of the Tado Thermostat X. However, it’s even possible to connect third-party devices with Matter and Thread to this hub, allowing you to control your Smart Home with the Tado Bridge X. This won’t be possible with the Tado app, you can expose the devices connected to the Tado Bridge to your favourite Smart Home platform. If you already own a hub with Matter and Thread, the Tado Bridge X is not required, but can be used as a range extender of your Thread network. Currently only Thread Border Routers from Apple, such as the HomePod mini are supported as an alternative for the Tado Bridge X.
Availability
The new generation thermostats from Tado are available in Germany, Austria, The Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Sweden and Denmark. The United Kingdom will follow later.
