SwitchBot has announced the AI Art Frame 2, a wireless art frame with a full-color E Ink display and no backlight. The image runs all the way to the edge of the frame, without the white mat you see on many digital photo frames. SwitchBot also says the frame can run for up to three years on a single charge if you refresh the image once a day. The AI Art Frame 2 comes in three sizes, from 7.1 to 31.5 inches, and goes on sale on October 27, 2026, starting at $169.99/€199.99/£179.99.
Full-color E Ink without a mat or glow
The screen is an E Ink Spectra 6, a full-color e-paper panel that uses the light in your room instead of its own illumination. This gives the image a paper-like look, without glare and without the frame standing out as a glowing screen. According to the specifications, the panel supports 65,000 colors, which SwitchBot reproduces with dithering. The frame itself has a walnut-color wood-grain finish, a stepped bevel profile and clean mitered corners. There is no protective front panel over the display, which probably helps the matte look, but might also mean you have to be careful when cleaning it.
Three sizes and up to three years of battery life
The 7.1-inch model has a resolution of 1200 × 1600 pixels (282 PPI) and fits on a desk, shelf or bedside table, although it can also be mounted on a wall. The 13.3-inch model has the same resolution at 150 PPI and is meant for an entryway, sideboard or smaller wall arrangement. You can place it on a surface or hang it on the wall. The 31.5-inch model is wall-mounted only, has 1440 × 2560 pixels (93 PPI) and is meant to be the centerpiece of a living room. An accelerometer detects whether the frame is hanging in portrait or landscape.

All sizes have a built-in battery: 5,000mAh in the 7.1-inch model and 20,000mAh in the 13.3- and 31.5-inch models. Because E Ink only uses power when the image changes, SwitchBot quotes up to three years per charge with one image refresh per day. If you change the image more often, the battery life will probably be shorter. Connectivity is Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, so you can also send images to the frame from a distance.
Changing the art and creating it with AI
The frame includes 500 curated artworks, and you can upload your own photos and images through the SwitchBot app, including in bulk. A 16GB microSD card is included and has room for roughly 5,000 images, although that depends on file format and resolution. You change the image through the app, with the button on the back or by tapping the frame three times. There are also slideshow and schedule modes, and SwitchBot lists voice commands through Alexa, the SwitchBot API and Home Assistant. Matter is not mentioned in the specifications. It is not entirely clear to us yet how deep the Home Assistant integration goes.
The AI features run through SwitchBot AI Studio. AI Art Remix can turn a photo or a child’s drawing into an oil painting or sketch, for example, and AI Art Prompt lets you add details or atmosphere with text. If you press and hold the function button for two seconds, the frame listens and creates a new artwork from what you describe. Weather Muse uses the local weather as inspiration. AI Studio is a paid service, though, with a 30-day free trial for first-time subscribers. SwitchBot does not say what the subscription costs in its announcement.
There is also Gift Mode. If you give the frame as a gift, you scan the QR code on the packaging, pick photos or artwork and write a personal message that the recipient sees after setup. Afterwards you can keep sending new images remotely.
