A new product from SwitchBot, the SwitchBot Floor Lamp, appeared on the website of the Connectivity Standard Alliance (CSA) regarding the Matter certification of the device. This Floor Lamp from SwitchBot is not announced yet, so this is the first appearance of the device. The device is Matter 1.3 certified and works over WiFi and Bluetooth, which indicates a next step towards SwitchBot products with direct Matter support. without the need for a SwitchBot Hub. This is currently already the case with the SwitchBot Air Purifier, Air Purifier Table, SwitchBot Robot Vacuum S10, K10+ Pro Combo and their smart relays.
SwitchBot Floor Lamp
The SwitchBot Floor Lamp will be one of the first lighting products from SwitchBot, at least in Europe and North America. In Japan, SwitchBot already offers a light bulb and ceiling light, but these have never reached other markets yet. According to the CSA website, the SwitchBot Floor Lamp is a decorative light showing a reflected light instead of direct light. It uses 3 independent lamp beads, RGB, CW and WW. It supports various lighting effects, a music mode and integrates with other SwitchBot products. It should last about 25.000 hours.
With the certification of Matter over WiFi, SwitchBot seems invested in more on-device support of Matter. Previously, all devices only worked with Matter using a SwitchBot Hub, but this recently changes with firmware updates of the SwitchBot S10, K10+ Pro Combo and Air Purifier (Table). Also their smart relays support Matter over WiFi. There’s currently no indication SwitchBot will move towards Matter over Thread, like other Smart Home brands such as Aqara.
A price or launch date is currently not available, as the device is currently not announced yet. However, the received Matter certification indicates the device is already in an advanced stage of development.
