Homey has introduced the Homey Portal, a new control panel for managing lights, music, climate and energy from within a room. The compact device combines a 2.8-inch touchscreen with a stainless-steel rotary ring, providing quick access to common smart home controls without reaching for your phone.
Homey Portal belongs to one zone, such as your living room. Devices in that zone and any zones below it are immediately available on the display. You can also create shortcuts for other devices, Flows and Moods throughout your home.
Homey Portal controls lights, music and climate
The controls adapt to each device type. For lighting, you can tap to switch lights on or off and turn the ring to change brightness. The touchscreen lets you select a colour or colour temperature and activate a saved Mood. For speakers, Portal displays album artwork, artist and track information. The ring changes the volume, while a swipe skips to the next track.
Climate control has its own interface showing the current temperature, target and humidity. Turning the ring changes the target temperature. Portal does not replace a thermostat and cannot communicate directly with a boiler, but it can operate thermostats, air conditioners and other heating devices already connected to Homey.
Energy, weather and timers on the display
The energy interface can show real-time power use, grid import and export, solar production and current energy prices. This requires a Homey Energy Dongle or a compatible third-party smart meter. Homey Cloud users need Premium unless they use the Energy Dongle. The display can also show current weather and the forecast for the week ahead.
A built-in timer can be used for cooking, breaks or focus sessions. You can select a preset or turn the ring to choose a duration. When the timer ends, the screen lights up, Portal plays a sound and the event can even start a Homey Flow.

Shortcuts, notifications and camera feeds
The home screen supports multiple pages with shortcuts to devices, Moods and Flows. A double tap on the enclosure can run a favourite action, such as toggling the zone’s lights, starting a Flow or pausing music. A proximity sensor allows the screen to react when someone approaches.
Homey also uses the display for interactive notifications. You can confirm an action, view a reminder or open a live feed from a connected camera. In an Airbnb or another shared setting, the owner can remove the standard icons and expose only selected shortcuts. Guests can use those controls, while configuration remains restricted to the Homey mobile app.
Works with Homey Cloud, Pro and Self-Hosted Server
Homey Portal works with Homey Cloud, Homey Pro models from 2023 through 2026, Homey Pro mini and Homey Self-Hosted Server. Setup and customisation require the Homey app for iOS or Android. One Portal connects to one Homey at a time, although Athom points to the HomeyLink app for accessing devices connected to another Homey.
Hardware includes a quad-core Cortex-A55 processor, speaker, proximity sensor, capacitive touch sensor and magnetic rotation sensor. Power is supplied through USB-C. The box contains both a desk stand and wall mount, a 1.5-metre USB-C cable and a 5V/3A power adapter.
€249 introductory price and shipping in 2026
The Homey Portal is available to pre-order for €249. Homey says that price applies only to the first production batch, after which it will cost €299. Orders are handled on a first-come, first-served basis and are expected to ship before the end of 2026.
